Reveille Bistro Review

A recent family outing brought us to Reveille Bistro, nestled inside the bustling Devonport RSL Club. Known for its classic pub food offerings, such as Fish and Chips, Chicken Burgers, Chicken Schnitzel, and chips with pepper gravy, the bistro seemed like a promising spot for a hearty meal.

Upon arrival, we found the bistro to be quite busy, which was both an indication of its popularity and a possible sign of the wait times we could expect. Undeterred, I placed an order for the Chicken Schnitzel with chips and salad, eager to indulge in a tasty meal with my loved ones.

Unfortunately, the long wait time we anticipated came to fruition. While it’s not unusual for a busy bistro, it’s essential to keep this in mind if you’re planning a visit with family, especially if you have little ones with limited patience.

When the food finally arrived, our expectations were met with mixed results. The Chicken Schnitzel, chips, and salad were average at best, not quite living up to the hype. The pepper gravy, though satisfactory, proved to be slightly overpowering and detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal.

Pricing was another area where Reveille Bistro left something to be desired. At $27 for the Chicken Schnitzel meal, the quality didn’t seem to match the price. Given the cost, one would expect a more memorable dining experience.

After discussing our meals with others in our party, it became clear that my experience wasn’t an isolated incident. While some enjoyed their food, the general consensus leaned towards not returning for another visit.

In conclusion, Reveille Bistro offers a lively atmosphere and an enticing menu of classic pub food. However, the long wait times, average quality, and slightly overpriced meals may leave you questioning whether it’s worth a visit, especially for a family gathering. While it was a worthwhile experience to try the bistro with my family, based on our collective opinion, we likely won’t be returning in the future.

If you’re looking for a satisfying and well-priced meal in the area, you might want to explore other options for your next family outing.
