Recycle Rewards (Bottle Collection Point)
Starting May 1, 2025, Tasmania will launch its container refund scheme, Recycle Rewards, aiming to reduce litter and promote recycling across the state. Residents can return eligible drink containers to designated refund points, such as the one in Devonport, to receive a 10-cent refund per container.
Eligible Containers:
Most beverage containers between 150 milliliters and 3 liters made from materials like aluminum, glass, plastic, steel, and liquid paperboard are eligible for refunds. These typically include:
- Soft drink cans
- Beer bottles
- Water bottles
- Juice cartons
To qualify, containers should be empty, uncrushed, with labels and barcodes intact.
All eligible drink containers will have a 10c mark – look out for this on the drink container near the barcode.
Ineligible Containers:
Some containers are excluded from the scheme, such as:
- Plain milk containers
- Glass wine bottles
- Spirit bottles
- Cordial bottles
- Concentrated juice containers
- Plastic containers (under 150mL)
These items do not qualify for the refund.
How to Participate:
- Collect Eligible Containers: Gather empty drink containers that meet the eligibility criteria.
- Locate a Refund Point: Find your nearest refund point in Devonport or other areas using the interactive map on the Recycle Rewards website.
- Return Containers:Bring your collected containers to the refund point.
- Receive Refund:Choose to receive your refund via cash, electronic transfer, or donate it to a participating charity.
By participating in Recycle Rewards, Devonport residents can contribute to a cleaner environment while benefiting from the refunds offered.
