Devonport’s cultural landscape gleamed a bit brighter with the opening of the ‘Dusk’ exhibit at the Devonport Regional Gallery, part of the paranaple arts centre, on 10 November 2023. The exhibition, under the expert curation of Victor Manuel Medrano-Bonilla, introduces an eclectic mix of artworks that reflect upon the ephemeral nature of dusk—the soft fade of daylight that ushers in the night.
Geoff Dobson, the Director of the paranaple arts centre, together with Victor Manuel Medrano-Bonilla, welcomed art aficionados to the unveiling. The exhibit features the works of five artists: Lou Conboy, Peter Maarseveen, Bethany van Rijswijk, Rebecca C Robinson, and Milly Yencken, who collectively explore the interplay between light and shadow, the known and the mysterious, the tangible and the ethereal.
Each artist presents a unique viewpoint on the theme, inviting visitors to ponder the complexities of dusk—its capacity to be at once calming and unsettling, a time when the veil between the day and night seems thinnest.
The exhibition will be at the Devonport Regional Gallery from the 11th November 2023 to the 20th January 2024
