Devonport Oval Sports Complex (Devonport Stadium)

The Devonport Oval Sports Complex is an upcoming state-of-the-art facility set to transform the sporting landscape of Devonport, Tasmania. Located at the existing Devonport Oval site, this $60 million project aims to co-locate multiple sports under one roof, enhancing community engagement and promoting active lifestyles.

Key Features:

• Indoor Facilities: A four-court community hall and a two-court show court and events centre with a seating capacity of 2,000.
• Outdoor Amenities: Outdoor netball and half-court basketball courts, along with multi-functional social and administration facilities.
• Training Facilities: Indoor cricket and high-performance training areas to support athlete development.
• Enhanced Connectivity: Improved linkages between Devonport Oval and Byard Park, integrating three ovals into a cohesive precinct.

The complex will serve as a hub for various sports, including basketball, netball, cricket, and athletics, providing shared social areas, high-performance training facilities, and quality amenities. This co-location fosters inclusivity and strengthens community bonds.

In October 2024, the Devonport City Council selected Fairbrother Pty Ltd, an award-winning Tasmanian construction company, to deliver the project. Fairbrother was appointed through an open competitive tender process and has been awarded the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract.

The Devonport Oval Sports Complex is a centerpiece of the city's Sports Infrastructure Priority Investment Plan, reflecting a shared vision between the council, sports clubs, and the community. It underscores Devonport's commitment to being a healthy and active city with high-quality, accessible, and affordable sports infrastructure delivering community-wide social, economic, and environmental benefits.
